The first press day of TGS has officially ended, and the word is surprisingly good. No conference from Sony yet, so we'll wait and see on that. Now let's begin...
With this past E3 being a major disaster/letdown, it was up to TGS to pick up the major slack left behind.....slack that has been picked up quickly. A slew of new games were seen today, some already announced and others being heard of for the first time. Among the new titles seen today was Noby Noby Boy, from Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi; only video was available, but it looks very different from all points around. Along with that, one of the big reveals of today has to be the new entry in the Castlevania series for Xbox 360 and PS3; Konami is only showing a short 10-second teaser clip, which easily explains the lack of gameplay seen. Besides that, no tentative release date was given, but a 2009 prediction is good to make at this point.
Monster Hunter 3 was available in both video and a playable demo, as well. The 4-player fight against what appears as a new monster now confirms the ability to play online with others, and not 4 people playing splitscreen co-op on two consoles. The gameplay has stayed the same from previous iterations, with the textures and graphics getting the upgrade; a huge first in the series this time around is the inclusion of underwater exploration which also includes underwater battles taking place. Right now, MH3 might be one of the must-buy titles for Wii when it comes out.

BlazBlue, from Arc System Works was also seen with two new trailers today, one of them being the opening intro to the game. While the only other challenger it has in terms of animation is King of Fighters XII, BlazBlue still comes out above. While it retains a feel to their other series Guilty Gear, it is only a spiritual successor in terms of style.
While staying on the topic of fighting games, the new trailer for Tekken 6 was dropped today, and after going through the video a few times, there seems to be a full list of 40 characters to choose from, along with new arena to battle in.
Theres alot of stuff to post, and since its past 2am as I type this, i'll go through a quick shot of news for the rest:
*** No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle has now been confirmed for Wii, and a release date was also given today; NMH2 will come out in January in 2010, and March for Europe. Aside from that, Marvelous also announced a new title, called Discipline for the Wii; besides the name, no other news was given.
***After kicking the can around, Media Molecule have decided no to do a full wipe of all the stages that were built during the LittleBigPlanet beta; rejoice, because you can play them all when the game comes out later this year.
***Two new characters were revealed for the Wii version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom today: Jun from Gatchaman, and Roll from the Megaman universe.
***Valve have given a timestamp for when we'll see a demo of their zombie-shooter Left 4 Dead; the game comes out on November 17th, and the demo will be out earlier that month, hopefully sometime within the first week.
***That rumor that Microsoft was working on a Blu-Ray player for the Xbox360?? consider it a dead rumor, as they have now denied the existence of a Blu-Ray add-on.
***Two games have 'gone gold', but only one has been pirated so far; Fallout 3 is due to launch in a few weeks, but already it has been leaked on torrent sites. The easiest explanation is a review copy just fell into the wrong hands(Bethesda, get crackin'). Gears of War 2 has also now finished production and is ready to be printed onto tons and tons of discs, that will be purchased later this November.
***Along with the news on Halo 3: Recon from yesterday, the game will be a stanalone title, and will also come with a new set of multiplayer maps; since you dont play as a Spartan this time around, you are going to have to adjust your strategy a bit(no regerating shield, perhaps?).
***Third-person shooter Quantum Theory, from Tecmo(of Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden fame) got the announcement today as a PS3 exclusive. It appears to use aspects from Gears of War and Fracture in terms of gameplay style and changing environments. Expect it late 2009.
***Bionic Commando, which was expected to see a 2008 release date, has now been pushed back to 2009. Damnit.
***Patapon 2 had a trailer up, and confirmed some new classes, as wel as the inclusion of a multiplayer mode; up to four players can join, while the computer controls the rest(y'know, if you can't find four people to play with).
Tomorrow is the second day for the press, with the next two days after that dedicated to the public. Ironically enough, tomorrow is also the first day of Blizzcon, which will have Diablo 3 available to play for the public.
And now, off to sleep. I really need to start typing thse up earlier.
