Today was my day off from work, and since i missed the chance to go out this past weekend, I decided to take a random trip to S.F.; main reason behind this is because I had some tokens from the Riptide Arcade from last year that I hadn't used up(it was somewhere close to $10-11 dollars I had left), so that was the first stop.
Pier 39 hasn't changed at all since the last time I went there which was around july or august of last year, IIRC. The only thing that has changed was the arcade itself; nothing but crappy, overpriced redemption games to play(why anyone was playing Deal or No Deal is beyond me), with all the semi-fun stuff shoved into one corner of the arcade. Sad part about that is the games that were in that same corner the last time I went were still the same ones I saw today; nothing new, just the same old stuff. But that's not to say they aren't still fun to play.
After emptying my pockets of coins, my next stop was hitting up Japantown and checking out the Kinokuniya bookstore there. Man, did my jaw drop.
Now, the last time I went to Kino(Kinokuniya, for short) was back in April for the Cherry Blossom Festival, so it's been a while since I've been there. Nothing much has changed with the place, save for a disabled ramp where the lift used to be, and a small tea-type of eatery next to the staircase on the first floor. The only major change I saw there was with Kino itself.
For those that have never been to the S.F. location, let me explain; Originally, the Kinokuniya bookstore was located on the second floor of the Japantown mall, and it's been like that for as long as I can remember. But now, its changed to a two-level format, with the cultural books and related items on the top floor, while the manga, toys, and other related items are now on the bottom floor.
What makes this even more awkward is how it was done: basically, a two-level store has the second level on top of the first; this is not the case in this situation. the top floor is where its always been, and after taking the staircase located inside to go downwards, I realized that the first floor is not located directly underneath, but to the back end of the building, which made it even more weird. It's better if you go down there and check it out for yourself to see what I mean.
After that, a simple pit-stop to the little supermarket located there rounded out my trip, and I made my way home. Not bad for a Monday.
